Did a debt collector call you at work?

In an attempt to track down debtors, many debt collectors will resort to calling them at work.  Because many people do not want their boss or co-workers to know about their financial problems, they will do anything to make the calls stop, including paying whatever the debt collector demands.

While it is legal for a debt collector to call you at work, if you inform the debt collector that  your employer does not allow such calls, they must stop contacting you at work immediatly.  It is a good idea to send a certified letter telling the debt collector not to call you at work.  We suggest certified because it gives proof that the debt collector received the letter.

Debt collectors also are not allowed to tell your employer or co-workers about your debt.

If you have been harassed at work by a debt collector after you have told them to stop, you may be entitled to compensation.  Please give my office, The Law Offices of Todd M. Friedman a call at (877) 449-8898 for a free consultation.
